Hiro is a product designer based in Tokyo with over eight years of experience. He currently leads product design at various companies as a freelancer. Previously, he worked at Mercari, the largest community-powered marketplace, designing platforms for both Japan and the US. Before starting his career as a designer, he studied design at Central Saint Martins, a constituent college of the University of the Arts London.
Growin is a community app that makes it easy for young athletes to connect and share trainings and match results with other athletes with similar characteristics to grow their skills. It offers various features to help young athletes improve their respective competitions.
Mercari is one of the biggest second hand marketplace in Japan. I lead many projects for both Japan and US platforms. I have worked on various projects to create seamless selling experience and help sellers to increase their sales through Mercari.
I Joined Origami as an early member of the company when the team was under 10 people. At that time I lead many e-commerce projects to create an unique marketplace that Origami envisioned. When Origami went through a transition from e-commerce to payment platform, I was one of the core member to work on many of the features from the ground up.
